How to write simple sentence?

1. In the previous post, we have learnt in depth about the concept of simple sentences. Also, we have been exposed to different types of sentences.

3. As you know, each simple sentence must come in a package of subject and verb; therefore,  for us to write a good simple sentence, I have developed a simple and convenient method called SVD table. Below is the template:

4. To use the table above, it is very important for us to firstly identify the possible Subject and Verb. Once these elements are identified, for the Description, you may write the extra ideas that related to the previous Subject and Verb; for example,

What is simple sentence?

1. In our previous post, we have learnt about different types of sentences. Let's do a quick recap:

2. Alright! I'm pretty sure, by now, you might have understood about the three different types of sentences in English language. Now let's look at the first type of sentence - simple sentence. Before we discuss in greater details, please watch the video below, so you could understand generally the concept.

3. A simple sentence consists of an independent clause, so it contains a subject and a verb. It does NOT contain either a dependent clause or another simple sentence.

4. The subject tells who or what did something. The verb tells the action (work, talk, think, etc.) or condition (is, seem, appear, etc.); for example'

           1. The dog barks.

           2. Ahmad and Adam are eating Nasi Lemak.

5. In simple sentence itself, there are few patterns or structures that we could classify them as simple sentence.

Type of sentences.

1. In the previous post, we have seen and learnt about the concept of sentences. Let's do a quick recap:

* Every sentence begins with a capital letter, and it ends with certain punctuations such comma ( , ), full stop ( . ), exclamation mark ( ! ) and so forth; for example,

This is a book.

She does well for her English paper, doesn't she?

2. Now, before we go in greater details, let's firstly look at the different types of sentences:

3. In English, particularly written language, we generally have three different types of sentences. They are:

a. Simple sentence or also known as basic sentence is generally a short sentence that contains a subject and a verb besides only one main idea; for example:

This is a book.

* This = Subject (S)

   is a book = predicate (P)

   is a book = main idea

b. Compound sentence contains two main ideas that joined by a coordinator. The coordinators are:

F - for

A - and

N - nor

B - but

O - or

Y - yet

S - so

Below are the examples of compound sentences:

c. Complex sentences - contain an independent clause and a dependent clause. The subjects, verbs, and subordinators are marked the same as in the previous sentences, and in these sentences, the independent clauses are also underlined (ESLBEE.COM, 2014).

What is sentence?

Hello folks!

1. In the previous post, we have watched a video of language of the world. It's very interesting, don't you think? Based on that video, we could know there are so many ways of saying Hello! in different languages such as Mandarin, Tamil, English and so forth.

2. However, although there are lots of languages to be spoken in the video, there is an obvious similarity between these languages. Can you identify it?

3. Regardless any languages of the world, besides spoken language, written language plays significant role at playing its role. As much as the spoken language does, written language helps a lot at delivering certain messages to an individual or a group of people. Words, phrases as well as sentences are used to serve such purposes - conveying the messages & communicating. 

4. I'm very sure, by now, you have already understood the concept of words and phrases, so without further ado, let's look at the general concept of sentence:

1. As you might probably have known, language serves many functions for various purposes. It is used formally and informally as a way of communicating and exchanging the information. As many as ethnics and races in this world, there are also thousands of language to be found.

Mandarin.

Tamil.

English.

French.

Germans.

Malay Language

many more.
